They have been able to apply a process for innovating that goes beyond domestic clusters and national boundaries, becoming â€Å"metanational innovators†. This strategy of utilizing local technology, market intelligence, and capabilities has accorded them a potent contributor to competitive advantage: more, higher value innovation that is also more cost-efficient (Chesborough, 2003).
